These records have been transcribed from the probate books in Birmingham Library and from images of those books available online at ancestry.co.uk. I have used the following abbreviations.
Probate ( P )
Issued to one or more executors named in the Will.
Letters of Administration (with Will) ( AW )
Issued when there is a Will but the executors named in the Will are no longer able or willing to apply for Probate.
Letters of Administration ( A )
Issued when no Will has been made or if the Will is invalid.
